Who we are
The MDA Global team includes lawyers, researchers, HR professionals, trainers, coaches, and policy and communications experts with unrivaled experience and knowledge of the areas we cover.
MDA Global Team
- Elaine Bowes: Elaine was at one time Race and Housing Advisor to the Housing Corporation, where she coordinated delivery of the BME Housing Association Strategy, which was independently evaluated as one of the most successful equality programmes in Europe. Since then she has been a consultant specialising in research, policy development, and training and has published widely. Elaine has been described as a ‘gifted’ trainer, and has achieved exceptional evaluations about her employee development and training interventions. She is skilled in analysing development needs and designing courses to meet the specific and particular needs of clients. Elaine has a particular interest in evaluation to test the effectiveness of various diversity approaches and strategies.
- Sally Grubb: Sally is a lawyer specialising in employment and in equality and diversity issues. She worked and qualified at Bindmans Solicitors, a leading human rights practice, before setting up the MDA Global consultancy. She leads on mediation and investigation work, and combines her legal expertise and experience with practical policy advice and training on how to manage and deliver change in organisations. She has written extensively on equality law and on managing diversity.
- Colin Hann: Colin was Director of Communications and Strategy at the Commission for Racial Equality, where he was involved in running award-winning campaigns, including advertising initiatives. Previously he headed the Commission’s Housing and Social Policy group. He also worked at top international law firm DLA Piper as a member of its Employment group before setting up MDA Global in 2002. Colin has written and been published widely.

- Ebrahim Bassa: Ebrahim specialises in the areas of community engagement and social regeneration as well as in issues of social inclusion. He has acted as a consultant to a number of national organisations and government departments in identifying and developing a range of innovative and imaginative community-based regeneration services.
- Davina Boake: Davina is a highly experienced and qualified HR practitioner. She specialises in human resources, organisational development and learning, corporate marketing and communications, corporate governance, IT, and facilities advice and support.
- Joe Charlesworth: Joe was a senior policy officer at the Commission for Racial Equality. He has extensive experience in all aspects of equality work, including formal investigations, equality impact assessments, a range of research projects in public services, and the development of guidance materials.
- Robert Good: Robert is a solicitor specialising in employment, mental health and social security law. Since 2007, he has been a consultant providing employment advice, training and representation, as well as playing a wider advisory role in human resources and on matters of equality and diversity. Among his various appointments, he is a member of a Law Society Mental Health Panel, and the British Psychological Society Service User Liaison Committee. He has also been published widely, and regularly writes on employment and personnel issues.
- Constance Hall: until 2006, Constance was CEO of Kush Housing Association, part of the Places for People group. Here she helped to develop a successful and highly motivated organisation, whose stock of homes grew from 250 to nearly 1000, providing services to complex and diverse markets and communities. She was previously CEO of the New Islington and Hackney Housing Association. She has a great deal of experience of managing change in complex organisations.
- Jude Lancaster: Jude is an HR strategist with many years’ experience and particular expertise in change and project management, and in policy formulation and implementation. Her core skills include team building, coaching, diversity and equality, negotiating, conflict management and mediation.
- Roger Landells: Roger was at one time Sales Service Director at AC Nielsen Marketing and Research, and headed the management buyout of the ACN division in 1993 to create Market Research Solutions Ltd (MRSL). Roger sold the business in 2002 and now advises MDA on data collection and research, and on research design project management.
- Joseph Ogbonna: Joseph has extensive experience of business development and housing development and regeneration. His work has included strategic planning and development, detailed project management, and advising on change and improvement.
- Greville Percival: Greville is a highly experienced researcher with particular knowledge of such areas investigative survey specifications, questionnaire design, data and systems analysis and the preparation of detailed reports. He has worked as a senior researcher with a number of large organisations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
- Professor Richard Tomlins: Richard is Director of Cohesia Ltd, Visiting Professor of Race and Diversity at Coventry University, and an MDA associate. He is a member of the DCLG’s Race Equality Advisory Group, and has served on the Home Office Community Cohesion Housing Practitioners Working Group, and the DCLG’s advisory group on housing issues. Richard has written and been published extensively.
